What Is Rezum and How Does it Work?
Rezum or water vapor thermotherapy is a MIST or minimally invasive surgical therapy for BPH.
It reduces the size of the transition zone of the prostate which leads to obstructed urine flow from the bladder. By eliminating excess tissue in the prostate, Rezum effectively counteracts the effects of an enlarged prostate. In doing so, it restores normal functionality in terms of urination while simultaneously preserving sexual functionality as well.
It was FDA approved in 2013 and used to treat prostate sizes ranging from 30-80g.
Rezum has little effect on erections or ejaculatory function. 97% of the cases involving Rezum as a treatment for an enlarged prostate, the patient retained their ability to ejaculate normally and remained sexually functional.
